Husband shoots wife dead over burial benefits in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY - A woman was shot dead by her husband in front of their children inside their house in Barangay Zone 10, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Police identified the victim as Jane Camoñas, 40.

The police identified the suspect as 47-year-old Jacinto Camoñas who allegedly came home drunk and figured into a heated argument with his wife.

The suspect and his wife were reportedly arguing about the burial benefits of the former’s father, who died in December last year, according to the police.

The police said the quarrel went out of proportion and led Jacinto to allegedly shoot his wife, hitting the victim in the head.

Police recovered from the crime scene an improvised firearm with a fired bullet of a 12 gauge shotgun.

The suspect was later arrested and will be charged for parricide.
