Scottie Thompson has immortalized his journey in the collegiate ranks as Perpetual retired his No. 6 jersey on Thursday, Feb. 16.
On his alma mater’s 48th Foundation Day, Thompson received a plaque to honor his decorated basketball career highlighted by an impressive PBA and Gilas Pilipinas stints following successful collegiate years with the Altas.
“Syempre happy. Simula noong nagustuhan ko ‘yong basketball, ‘yong mga ganitong bagay at ganitong pagkakataon, talagang pinapangarap ko at dumating na. It’s a dream come true for me,” said Thompson.
As Thompson recounted his years with Perpetual, the late Aric del Rosario would come to mind, the same person who betted on his young talent as he thrived at the collegiate level.
The Ginebra standout would bring Perpetual to three Final Four appearances from 2012-2014 in his collegiate career, which included three Mythical Team honors.
The reigning PBA Most Valuable Player was joined by his wife, the school's official board secretary Richard Tamayo, member of the Board of Directors Anton Tamayo and some of Thompson’s former teammates.
Thompson and the Kings are looking to tie their 2022-2023 campaign together with another championship in the season-ending conference.
