The Navotas City government recorded zero Covid-19 active cases in the city on Thursday, Feb. 16, after the recovery and release of the last two patients from isolation on the same day.
“Since February 11, we have not recorded any new cases of the disease. We owe this breakthrough to our frontliners and all the members of the city’s COVID-19 response team” Navotas City Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” Tiangco said.
The mayor thanked the city residents who, in their own simple ways, helped in preventing the spread of Covid-19.
According to the city government, Navotas was the last city in Metro Manila to report the local transmission of the virus when it logged its first Covid-19 case on March 28, 2020.
As of Thursday, the city government listed a total of 22,273 Covid-19 active cases with 729 deaths and 21,544 recoveries.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 vaccinations for residents still continue in different inoculation sites in the city.
The city government said that there are already 223,358 individuals who received their second Covid-19 vaccine dose (223,336 with initial or first doses) as of Wednesday, Feb. 15.
There are also 77, 525 individuals administered with their Covid-19 first booster while 17,739 got their second booster jab.
“While we are happy that Navotas is now COVID-free, we remain vigilant. Our fight is not yet over. Let us do our utmost to prevent any more COVID cases in our community,” Tiangco said.
