BOC seizes P3M worth of 'smuggled' cigarettes in Davao City
Agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized some P3 million worth of cigarettes believed to have been smuggled into the country.
In a statement, the BOC said the 103 boxes of cigarettes were confiscated after the vehicle that was supposed to transport the contraband was flagged down in a checkpoint in Toril District in Davao City on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

The BOC then issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the smuggled items for violating Section 1113 in relation to Section 117 and Section 400 of Republic Act No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
The seized items were immediately turned over to the BOC, and the suspects are now under the custody of the local police for filing appropriate charges relative to the smuggling of illicit cigarettes.
