Umipig is Navotas City’s new top cop

Members of the Navotas City Police Station (NCPS) welcomed Col. Allan B. Umipig as their new chief during the turnover of command ceremony held on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Northern Police District (NPD) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr. led the ceremony at the city’s police station on Naval Street, along with Navotas City Vice Mayor Tito Sanches, the city’s barangay chairmen and other police officials.

Umipig replaced Col. Dexter Ollaging who served as NCPS chief for more than two years.

The new NCPS chief told Manila Bulletin that he plans to continue the initiatives of the former head of the city police force that brought peace to Navotas.

He said he would also focus and add innovations to the city’s campaign against illegal drugs, illegal gambling, and other crimes.

Prior to his assignment as the new NCPS chief, Umipig led the NPD District Intelligence Division and the District Special Operations Unit of Southern Police District and Eastern Police District. He also served in the Philippine National Police Directorate for Police Community Relations in Camp Crame.

Umipig said city residents may expect an honest service from the police under his leadership and that he will ensure to address their concerns related to security.

During the ceremony, Vice Mayor Sanches relayed Navotas City Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” Tiangco’s greetings and congratulations to the new chief. The mayor also thanked Ollaging for his service to the city.
