The low pressure area (LPA) and northeast monsoon may continue to affect most parts of the country in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

PAGASA said Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao may experience cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough or extension of the LPA.

Cloudy and rainy weather may also persist in the Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region because of the northeast monsoon, or “amihan.”

PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the LPA and amihan to remain alert due to the threat of flooding or landslides caused by moderate to occasional heavy rains.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light amihan rains.

However, a gale warning is currently raised in the western, northern, and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon, as the sea is expected to be rough to very rough.

“Fishing boats and other small sea craft are advised not to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” PAGASA advised.
