Marcoses join Enrile's 99th birthday celebration

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his family joined many influential personalities in celebrating the 99th birthday of Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile.

Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, former first lady Imelda, and presidential sister Irene were spotted at the birthday celebration of Enrile on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, as seen in multiple photos uploaded on social media by various attendees.

The elite-studded birthday celebration was held in an events place in Makati City.

Although there was no official statement from the President of his attendance in the event, he greeted his chief legal counsel through a Twitter post on Tuesday night.

"To our Chief Presidential Legal Counsel, naragsak a panagkasangay mo (happy birthday to you), Manong Johnny!" Marcos said.

"May you continue to be blessed with the gifts of joy and good health," he added.

Other politicians like Vice President Sara Duterte, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo were also seen attending Enrile's birthday celebration.

Through a Facebook post, Enrile shared his thoughts as he turned 99 years old on Tuesday, saying reaching this age is "a long time but flickering."

“Ninety-nine years is a long time in terms of years, but a flickering moment in terms of eternity. Ce’est la vie! That is where we are all going. It is a race no one wishes to win!" he said.

“But in terms of eternity, those seemingly long years are but a fleeting moment. Nonetheless, thank you Lord for the years you gifted me; for the protection you blessed me; and for all the blessings you have generously given to me and to my family; and the friends you, Lord, allowed me to have during my lifetime. Thank you dear God for this day!” he further said.
