The Malabon City government was cited by the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) for its exemplary performance in ensuring the safety and security of road users in the city amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Malabon City Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO) Chief retired Col. Reynaldo Medina Jr. received the “I-ACT Magiting na Lingkod Award” from the agency during the “I-ACT At Your Service 2.0” awarding ceremony held at the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City, on Monday, Feb. 13.
In a phone interview with Manila Bulletin on Wednesday, Feb. 15, Medina said the PSTMO ensures that the city’s traffic enforcers are visible 24 hours on the roads to manage traffic and assist the residents. They also underwent training and are well-equipped in performing their duty even during rainy days.
He said there are signages placed to guide motorists and update them on changes on the usage of roads (e.g. one-way roads).
Medina thanked I-ACT for the award, saying that it will be an inspiration to the PSTMO in performing doing its duties better for the Malabon citizens.
He also expressed gratitude to Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval for her support.
The PSTMO head encouraged the residents to coordinate with them if they notice any issues or wrongdoings involving the city’s traffic enforcers while on the roads.
The award is being given by I-ACT to local government units, other agencies and private partners for their invaluable contributions in making the roads safe and secure for commuters/pedestrians, and in strengthening the enforcement of traffic rules in the country.
I-ACT, which is under the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, was formed in 2016 to solve traffic concerns in Metro Manila and in neighboring provinces.
