BACOLOD CITY - A former person deprived of liberty (PDL) was shot dead in front of his two daughters at Hacienda Lopez, Barangay 10, Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
The victim was identified as Rodel Castor, 45, of Barangay 10.
Capt. Genus David, deputy chief of Victorias City Police Station, said the victim was supposed to send his children to school when he was waylaid by two unidentified assailants.
The perpetrators then shot the victim, and fled reportedly on board a motorcycle.
The victim died on the spot.
David said the suspects may have monitored the victim, as the motorcycle was seen by some residents parked in the area for a few days prior to the incident.
David said the victim was previously convicted for homicide and was released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City in 2010.
Police are looking into grudges as a possible motive in the incident.
