5 rescued from capsized motor banca in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A passenger cargo vessel rescued five persons from a motor banca that capsized in the sea of Basilan on Valentine’s Day.

The Philippine Coast Guard Zamboanga Station said the M/V Ciara Joie 6 spotted the distressed motor banca at the Basilan Strait on Tuesday afternoon.

The cargo vessel was sailing from Isabela City in Basilan to Zamboanga City when they saw the motor banca.

A passenger of the motor banca said they were on their way to Zamboanga City from Basilan when their boat capsized because of rough sea.

All motor banca passengers were turned over to the Philippine Coast Guard in Zamboanga City for medical checkup.
