A total of 1,168 couples in Caloocan City got married during the “Kasalang Bayan” officiated by Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan on Valentine’s Day.
“Sa ating mga bagong kasal, sa panibagong yugto ng inyong buhay sana'y mas ipakita at iparamdam ninyo ang inyong pagmamahalan. Intindihin ninyo ang isa't isa dahil kasabay ng pag-intindi ay ang magaan na pagsasama at payapang buhay (To our newlyweds, in this new phase of your lives, I hope you show and express your love for each other. Try to understand each other because with understanding comes easy companionship and peaceful life),” Malapitan told the newlyweds.
He also reminded them to always support each other’s dreams, let their partner grow as an individual, and seek guidance from God when making decisions for their families.
Civil Registry Department head Ms. Lucena Flores said the city government is always ready to assist its constituents who want to get married because the department aims to protect and strengthen families, one of the most fundamental units of the society.
She also congratulated the couples and announced that all of them will bring home gifts such as electric kettles, bottles of brandy, and movie tickets.

Vice Mayor Karina Teh-Limsico, First District Rep. Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, Third District Rep. Dean Asistio, Councilor Win Abel, Councilor Lanz Almeda and Councilor Bullet Prado were also present during the ceremony
