Parañaque gov't offers free Philhealth enrollment

Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez said the city government is offering free Philhealth enrollment to residents who cannot afford to pay the premium.

Olivarez said free Philhealth enrollment is one of his administration priorities to help city residents, particularly pregnant and solo parents with no permanent jobs.

The mayor sponsored the Universal Health Care law when he was still in Congress.

According to Dr. Ma, Lorelei Obed, chief of the city Health Plan Office, residents aged 30 to 59 years old who cannot afford to pay the premium may apply for free Philhealth enrollment.

Obed said applicants need to bring valid government identification cards and certificates of indigency issued by the barangay.

She said those who were former members of Philihealth and wishes to continue through free enrolment must bring their old member data record.

The heath plan officer added that pregnant applicants’ date of their giving birth must be from March 15 and above based of their ultrasound last December.

Obed said solo parents without work must present their solo parent identification card issued by the City Social Welfare and Development Department.

Olivarez said the free Philhealth registration started on Feb. 9 and will run up to March 28.

He said those who wanted to apply must visit the Parañaque Health Plan Office located at the ground floor of the City Hall and bring with them the requirements for interview.
