President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the Philippines supports the embattled country in its effort to end the ongoing war.

Marcos bared this after confirming that he had a conversation with Zelenskyy for the first time on Monday night, Feb. 13.
"I had the pleasure of talking to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday," Marcos said on Tuesday, Feb. 14, which came as a confirmation of Zelenskyy's statement that he talked with Marcos via phone call.
"I told him that we in the Philippines are watching with admiration, the bravery and the nationalism that has been displayed by the Ukrainians during this crisis and that we join in his effort to reach a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in his country," the President said.
"Mr. President, we are with you in your search for peace," he added.

According to Zelenskyy, they discussed further deepening the Philippines and Ukraine cooperation, particularly on international platforms.
Malacañang has yet to release the details of the conversation.
The conversation of the two leaders came a month after Marcos denied snubbing the European leader amid the effort of the Ukrainian side to seek an opportunity for the two leaders to talk but to no avail.
Ukrainian Charges D’Affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia Denys Mykhailiuk said they have been trying to have the two leaders talk to each other since Marcos assumed office in June 2022 but to no avail.
