Mandaluyong City awarded for excellent public transportation programs amid Covid-19 pandemic
The Mandaluyong City local government was recognized by the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) on Monday, Feb. 13, for its exceptional initiatives and programs aimed at providing the public with safe, fast, and comfortable public transportation during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The awarding ceremony dubbed as “I-ACT At Your Service 2.0” with the theme "Pagpaparangal sa mga Dakilang Lingkod Bayan," Mandaluyong City Councilor Charisse Marie Abalos-Vargas received the Tapat na Lingkod Award on behalf of Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos.
According to I-ACT, the awarding ceremony recognizes the valiant and outstanding operatives and partners from the private sector and Local Government Units (LGU).
A total of 47 awardees were recognized and conferred the plaque of appreciation, with two individuals and 45 agencies from various LGUs and private partners.
During the event, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor commended the men and women of I-ACT and its partners for serving our countrymen with sincerity and bravery.
"That is the very essence of why we are all gathered here today: to recognize all our unsung heroes during the pandemic. Those who performed beyond their duties to ensure the security and safety of every commuting Filipino,” Pastor said.
"Nais ko ring bigyang-diin ang naging partisipasyon ng ating mga Local Government Units at ang mga pribadong sektor na naririto ngayon na karapat-dapat ding parangalan sa kanilang mahalagang kontribusyon, lalo't higit noong pandemic (I would also like to emphasize the participation of our Local Government Units and the private sector who are here, who deserve to be awarded, for their important contribution especially during the height of the pandemic)," he added.
For his part, I-ACT chief Del Rosario likewise recognized and applauded the unwavering commitment of all I-ACT personnel and partner sectors in providing public service.
"We take pride in our people who passionately serve our kababayans above and beyond the call of duty. For the last two years, we continuously recognized the efforts of our people for their diligence and for upholding the safety and security and for saving the lives of our commuters,” Del Rosario said.
