The House of Representatives--through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)--haa donated an additional P10 million in humanitarian aid to the thousands of earthquake victims in Turkey.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez led the turnover of the P10 million on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 14.
This was the second time in as many days that the House leadership donated money to the Turkey earthquake victims. On Monday, Romualdez, through the Speaker’s Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Initiative, handed over $100,000 or P5.5 million to Turkey Ambassador to the Philippines Niyazi Evren Akyol in a simple ceremony at the House of Representatives.
Former Senator Richard Gordon, PRC chairman and chief executive officer; and PRC Governor Carissa Coscolluela received the additional donation for the earthquake-stricken nation straddling Europe and Asia.
“On this day of love and compassion, we show our love and appreciation to the people of Turkey who helped us, together with friends and other allies, when we needed it most. We understand and feel what they are going through, and we are praying for them,” said Romualdez who represents Leyte's 1st district.
Turkey was among the first responders in the aftermath of the widespread devastation caused by super typhoon "Yolanda" (international name: Haiyan) in Leyte and other parts of Eastern Visayas in November 2013.
Aykol has extended his gratitude for the humanitarian aid given by the House for his quake-stricken compatriots.
