The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the 1.3 kilometer farm-to-market road project that is now providing the farmers and residents access to the marketplaces and business centers in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan noted that the P20 million project met the target date of completion, citing the DPWH Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office for its efficient construction work.
Funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) in the amount of P20-million, the project involved construction of a two-lane paved road with stone masonry and slope protection.
DPWH Ilocos Norte First District Engineer Glenn C. Miguel said the solar LED lights were also installed along the road project to improve road visibility and promote safety to the road users at night.
“The completion of this new road is another testament of DPWH’s commitment to support local economy by providing farmers with better options to transport their agricultural products to the local market,” Tan said. (Chito A. Chavez)
