Diocese of Balanga releases diocesan prayer for Turkiye-Syria quake victims

The Diocese of Balanga in Bataan has released a diocesan statement and prayer for the earthquake victims in Türkiye and Syria.

“We recite the diocesan prayer at the end of our Holy masses. We will also donate our Sunday collection to our CBCP Caritas Philippines to be sent to Caritas Syria and Caritas Türkiye,” said Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos, who also serves as the CBCP bishop promoter for Stella Maris Philippines.

“In the immense death and destruction from the massive earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, let us turn to God for His charity and compassion. With His mercy, may He welcome them to His home in Heaven and grant them eternal rest. May we all be one and united to help, to share, and to rebuild lives,” said Bishop Santos.

“To those who are suffering, in pain, and have lost their loved ones, we pray and hope that with God's grace and healing power, they may be strengthened, supported, and sustained. We, in the Diocese of Balanga, offer our prayers and Holy Masses for all the earthquake victims,” he added.

Let us now pray...

Heavenly Father, Your word reminds us to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and be constant in prayer. You are faithful and you know what we need even before we ask.

We come to you today with fervent intentions for the people of Türkiye and Syria.

Comfort the millions of people whose hearts are agonizing for their missing or dead loved ones. We ask that You meet the needs of the countless families who are without shelter in the midst of winter as well as their need for food and medications.

Touch the hearts of the people who have the ability to help in whatever form they may. We thank you for the selfless individuals who already responded to Your call in this time of great need.

We ask that you protect and keep them safe.

Lastly, we ask that You guide, heal and restore the people of these two devastated countries. We pray that they may find refuge in Your unending love and abundant grace.

We humbly ask that You hear our prayers, in the name of Your most precious Son, Jesus, Amen.

Latest reports said, more than 34,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Türkiye and Syria on Monday, Feb. 6. The Philippines sent an 85-man contingent on Feb. 8 to help in the relief and rescue efforts.
