751 couples tie the knot in Dasmariñas, Cavite Valentine mass wedding

CAVITE – A total of 751 couples said “I do” in a mass wedding at the City of Dasmariñas Arena on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

The event, organized by the local government unit (LGU), was led by Mayor Jenny Austria-Barzaga.

During her speech streamed live through Facebook, Austria-Barzaga said this was the first time since the pandemic that the city government was able to accommodate a big number of couples for a mass wedding with standard protocols being less restrictive.

She also reminded the brides and grooms to work together to strengthen their families.

“Family is the basic unit of society, kaya 'pag maayos ang pamilya, nagiging maayos din ang komunidad (so when the family is in order, the community is also in order),” the mayor said.

Also present were guests of honor, Sen. Bong Go and actor Philip Salvador.

Go, who served as a principal sponsor, gifted the couples with food baskets and vitamins. The chair of the Senate Committee on Sports also gave away basketballs to encourage residents to be active.

By the end of the ceremony, a raffle draw was held for the newlyweds with bikes, appliances, cell phones, and cash as prizes.
