In the recent celebration of its 36th anniversary, DOST-TAPI unveiled its theme: "Strengthening Innovation for National Advancement and Growth," or SINAG which according to DOST-TAPI Director Marion Ivy Decena will serve as their mantra for 2023.

Decena shared that last year, the agency was able to pursue, establish and strengthen industry tie-ups and partnerships for their activities to support the commercialization of market-driven technologies.

"As an Institute, we shall not cease to initiate innovations that will realize the Institute’s full potential to achieve its vision of becoming the premier hub in promoting technology transfer and commercialization, and attain its objective of supporting invention development in the country," she added.

The agency also shared that it was awarded an innovation grant by the National Economic and Development Authority for implementing “Project SciNing: Cultivating Ingenuity, Creativity and Awareness through Experiential Learning, Innovations and Promotions”.

According to DOST-TAPI, the project centers on the conduct of an Invent School Program, a special capacity-building and training workshop to awaken the youth’s ingenuity and creativity in Science and Technology (S&T).

For its pilot implementation, the island province of Basilan was selected in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

In his inspirational message, DOST Secretary Renato Solidum, Jr. recognized the agency's institutional partners and stakeholders who have successfully completed the various programs of assistance of the institute.

He stated that the successful completion of the various DOST-TAPI programs contributes to the realization of its vision to advance national socio-economic growth by advocating a culture of innovation and promoting globally competitive and useful technologies.

"We need to further strengthen our efforts in bringing science, technology, and innovation (STI) closer to the general public in order to promote growth and development," Solidum said.

He also mentioned that he would like to inspire everyone, especially DOST-TAPI, to have an entrepreneurial mindset in promoting STI to its clients.

He said that DOST has to strive harder in order to effectively communicate to the public the importance of STI in changing their lives and provide them with tangible results that will impact day-to-day living.

"We must be able to convert innovations into results that will economically and financially benefit the people," Solidum stressed.

DOST-TAPI acts as the lead agency in promoting the commercialization of technologies and marketing the services of other operating units of DOST.
