ASG sub-leader with P5-M reward arrested in Zamboanga City


ZAMBOANGA CITY – An Abu Sayyaf Group sub-leader with a reward of more than P5 million for his arrest was nabbed here on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Col. Richard Verceles, Area Police Command Western Mindanao operations chief, said Isnirul Kirih, alias ‘’Kiri,’’ was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) Sulu Provincial Field Unit, Philippine National Police Special Armed Force (PNP-SAF), and city police in Barangay Sinunuc during the service of a warrant of arrest for seven counts of murder and 25 counts of frustrated murder.

The suspect, listed as the second most wanted person by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Police Regional Office, had a reward of P5.3 million for his arrest from the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of National Defense.

Kirih had been using the names ‘’Sakirin L. Kiram’’ and ‘’Sakirin Isnain Kiram’’ in identification cards confiscated from him by the police.

He was operating under ASG leaders Radulan Sahiron in Sulu and Isnilon Hapilon in Basilan.
