Ai Ai delas Alas apologizes to Mayor Joy Belmonte

Ai Ai delas Alas recently opened up on her being deemed "persona non grata" in Quezon City after impersonating Mayor Joy Belmonte for Darryl Yap's video.

In an interview with Boy Abunda, Ai Ai reiterated that she meant no harm.

“Nung ginawa ko po ‘yon, bilang artista po tapos sila naman po ang gumawa ng script,” she said about her character in the video “Ligaya Delmonte.”

According to her, she even asked for some revision when she felt it could offend.

“Ang iba po do’n, talagang pina-edit ko kasi alam ko, baka ma-offend si Mayora,” she reiterated.

Ai Ai then apologized to Joy.

“Pasensya na, Mayora, na ako pala ay nakasakit sa’yo pero artista lang ako. Kumbaga kaya ko ginawa ‘yon kasi inutos lang sa’kin,” she explained.

Then she quipped: “Mayora, alam mo, dapat hindi ka na magtatampo sa’kin kasi ‘pag nagtampo ka sa’kin parang, nag tampo ka sa sarili mo eh diba magkamukha tayo?”

Apart from Ai Ai, Darryl was also declared persona non grata by the Quezon City Council in an approved resolution, originally filed by District IV Councilor Ivy Lagman, accusing both of allegedly disrespecting the city’s seal.
