Six tricycle passengers injured in Quezon road accident


PLARIDEL, Quezon -- Six people who were on board a tricycle were injured after they were side-swept by an Elf truck along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tanauan on Sunday afternoon, Feb, 12 in this town.

Police Major Jocelyn Allibang, acting chief of Plaridel Philippine National Police, identified the injured as Joy Delacalsada, 33; John, 4 months; Adriana Guerrero, 11; Angelo Guerrero, 4, Herniña Delacalsada, 55, and Pederico Delacalsada, 60. All residents of Muntinlupa City.

The Elf truck driver who was identified as Elmer Moralde, 59, and a resident of Valenzuela City, was unharmed.

Allibang said that the tricycle (Bangkulong) carrying the victim was also loaded with assorted goods.

Its driver was identified as Michael Lobtoco, 31, also a resident of Muntinlupa City. The accident happened around 4:10 p.m. when the tricycle tried to overtake another tricycle.

Labtoco’s tricycle occupied the half portion of the opposite lane but unfortunately did not notice the incoming Elf truck that was traversing and going in Bicol’s direction.

Moralde tried to avoid the collision but it still side-swept the victims’ tricycle.

The victims sustained physical injuries and were brought to the nearest hospital.
