LTO's January 2023 operations in west NCR yield 617 violators


Agents of the land Transportation Office (LTO) apprehended a total of 617 motorists for various traffic violations during a month-long operations in western part of Metro Manila in January this year.

Roque I. Verzosa III, director of the LTO- National Capital Region West (LTO-NCR West), said most of the motorists were apprehended for violating Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, majority of the 333 violators were due to defective accessories, devices, equipment, and parts.

The LTO-NCR West covers the cities of Manila, Pasay, Makati, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Muntinlupa, and Las Pinas.

A total of 32 motorists were accosted for failure to carry OR/CR (official receipt/car registration) while driving a motor vehicle; 23 for driver wearing slippers; 17 for unregistered motor vehicle ; 17 for unauthorized MV modification; 12 for illegal terminal; 11 for motor vehicle operating with unauthorized accessories, devices, equipment, and parts; 10 for reckless driving; 10 for obstruction (10); and nine for driving without a valid driver's license.

A total of 141 motorists, according to Verzosa, were apprehended for failure to wear the prescribed seat belt device and 14 others for failure to require the front passenger to wear a seatbelt device, which both fall under R.A. 8750.

Another 117 motorists, on the other hand, were also apprehended for failure to wear the standard protective motorcycle helmet, and seven others for failure to require the back rider to wear the standard protective motorcycle helmet, which are both under R.A. 10054.

Also, three motorists were apprehended in violation of R.A. 10913 (distracted driving) and two others in violation of R.A. 10666 (MC driving with a child).

Meanwhile, a report submitted by LTO-NCR West Operations Chief Hanz Lim showed that 220 motorists were also lectured on the importance of following traffic laws, 51 of them by the Regional Law Enforcement Unit (RLEU) headed by Ronald Valisno and 169 by the District Law Enforcement Team (DLET).

"These operations are to be conducted throughout the year.We need to implement traffic laws in order to ensure discipline and order on the roads," said Verzosa.
