In celebration of the centennial anniversary of the Philippine Nurses Association, Dr. Carl Balita Productions and award-winning director Lemuel Lorca teamed up for the film "Siglo ng Kalinga."
This will be the first all-nurses cast film that will portray the story of Anastacia Giron Tupas—making its way to local cinemas in April 2023.
Ahead of its premiere, Dr. Carl Balita and Ms. Nancy Hoff of the Philippine Nurses Association of America Foundation announced that they would bring the film to international screens as part of the celebration of the Philippine Nurses Association.
"Napakasaya po namin na magkakaroon ng ganitong panahon na makikita ng lahat ang tunay na ginagawa ng mga Nurses, and we are looking forward na maipakita ang pelikula na ito na ginampanan ng mga Nurses na buong puso nilang ginawa para ipalabas sa ibang bansa," Nancy said.
(We are very happy that there will be a time like this when everyone can see what the Nurses really do, and we are looking forward to showing this movie, that our real-life nurses made with all their heart, and it will be shown in another country)
She also said that the goal of taking the film to the International screen is to show support and love to all Filipino-American nurses.
"We have worked together to promote and support all Filipino-American nurses. That's why we will bring this movie to all of our proceedings conferences in America," Nancy added.
The international screening will include their conferences in Maui, Hawaii; and Florida.
Aside from the International screenings, the film will be distributed to different PNA Chapters. According to Balita, they also plan to submit the movie to the Metro Manila Summer Festival.
"Yes, Ilalaban po namin ito, sana matanggap. Hiling ko lang is sana hindi sila maghanap ng big names on the film dahil iga guarantee ko sa Metro Manila Film Festival na kapag napanood ito ng mga nursing student, magugulat kayo baka mag top grossing ito" Balita also said.
(Yes, we will fight for it. I hope it will get accepted. My only wish is that they don't look for big names in the film because I will guarantee the Metro Manila Film Festival that when the nursing students watch it, you will be surprised that it might be top-grossing)
