KALAYAAN, Laguna – Three persons were arrested for alleged illegal logging in Barangay San Antonio, this municipality, last week.
Confiscated from the suspects were P842,000 worth of lumber.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Santa Cruz, this province, Police Regional Office 4-A Intelligence Division, and local police nabbed Marvin Pasco, Wendel Pacueza, and Lamberto Labonera on Thursday, Feb. 9.
Pasco and Pacueza were caught in Sitio Lamao and confiscated from them were illegally cut lumber valued at P472,400 and a bandsaw mill.
Laboreto was apprehended in Sitio Buho. Also confiscated from him were illegally cut lumber worth P370,100 and a bandsaw mill.
The alleged owners of the bandsaw mills, identified as Edgardo Caiipe and Bernard Asedillo, are at-large.
Suspects were taken to the Kalayaan police station for proper documentation and disposition and they face appropriate charges.
