Village exec killed, 2 hurt in Zamboanga City shooting

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PNA) – A barangay official was killed while two others, including his wife, were injured in an attack in an upland village here, police reported on Saturday, Feb. 11.

Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the fatality as Barangay Tolosa Councilor Mark Ryan Rodriguez, 29.

Tolosa’s wife, Anni, 32, and their driver, Jomel Mendoza, were hurt.

Lorenzo said the incident took place around 9:30 p.m. in the village located 23 kilometers east of the city hall.

Investigation showed Rodriguez and his family were having dinner outside their house when two unidentified gunmen on separate motorcycles repeatedly shot the victims and sped off.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at around 10:07 p.m.
