No explosives in suspicious bags found outside convenience store - MPD


Two suspicious bags that caused bomb scare in Port Area, Manila on Saturday, Feb. 11, contained no explosives, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.

According to MPD, the Baseco Police Station (PS13) received a report from a concerned citizen about two unattended bags outside a convenience store at 25th St. corner Bonifacio Drive at about 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), MPD Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) immediately responded to check and inspect the area.

The convenience store and two adjacent establishments were told temporarily close for investigation.

After hours of inspection, the MPD declared the bags "negative of explosive" at about 5 p.m.

The bags, which contained clothes and a wallet with an identification card (ID), were turned over to the MPD.

Police have yet to verify the owner of the bags.
