Chery Tiggo overpowers Army for share of early lead

Chery Tiggo recovered from a second-set hiccup and hacked out a 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12 win over Army Black Mamba in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The Crossovers regained their winning touch after suffering a second-set collapse against a persistent Lady Troopers side who refused to hand the easy victory.

Mylene Paat pumped in 26 points on 22 attacks and four blocks to steer Chery Tiggo to its second win and tie with Creamline for the early lead.

Cza Carandang and EJ Laure chipped in 12 points apiece.

The Crossovers breezed through the third set and held its momentum in the fourth frame to pull away from an 11-9 lead with a 13-2 run highlighted by EJ Laure's three aces to never look back.

Royse Tubino paced the Lady Troopers with 16 points built on 14 attacks and two blocks while Jeannette Villareal added 12 markers in the losing effort as they absorbed their first win of the season.
