The Pasay City Sanggguniang Panglusod passed a resolution declaring every 2nd Thursday of January every year, known as National Baptist Day, as a special working holiday in the city.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the City Council, through Resolution No. 6335, Series of 2023, made the declaration in recognition of the contributions of the Baptist Church in the city.
“Whereas, the City recognizes the contributions of the Baptist Churches in the City, particularly with their efforts in maintaining lasting peace as well as giving people a sense of fulfillment and purpose in their fellowship through spiritual development of the faithful,” the resolution read.
Rubiano said the city government recognizes and supports the Baptist Churches for the continued pursuit of their evangelical mission to contribute to nation-building by proclaiming, teaching, and sharing biblical principles for the betterment of society.
The mayor lauded the Baptist Churches in the city for providing spiritual-based services and Christian teachings to city employees, schools, communities, and prisoners.
Rubiano also appreciated the significant role of the Baptist Churches in developing the spiritual foundation of Pasayeños.
