The municipality of La Trinidad in Benguet registered on Friday, Feb. 10 the country’s coldest temperature so far this 2022-2023 northeast monsoon or “amihan” season at 9.9 degrees Celsius (°C), according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Dan Villamil.

The lowest air temperature was recorded at the Benguet State University’s agrometeorology station in La Trinidad.

According to PAGASA, the northeast monsoon continues to prevail, bringing cold weather to some areas in Luzon.

In its daily weather forecast, PAGASA said the amihan may also cause cloudy and rainy weather in the Bicol region and Quezon province until the weekend.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

The amihan may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light rains over the rest of Luzon.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms because of localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said there may still be cold surges due to the amihan until the end of February.
