Gov. Fernando vows to intensify immunization program, free medical missions in Bulacan
Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando has vowed to intensify the implementation of the National Immunization Program (NIP) and free medical missions in Bulacan.
This was confirmed by Provincial Public Affairs Office (PPAO) head Katrina Anne B. Balingit in a phone interview with Manila Bulletin on Friday, Feb.10,
Balingit said that Gov. Fernando made his statement during the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) Symposium on the 2023 Measles, Rubella – Oral Polio Vaccine Immunization Activity (MR OPV SIA) and Reaching Every Purok Strategy program spearheaded by the Department of Health-Center for Health Development held at the Marriott Hotel, Clark Freeport Zone, Mabalacat, Pampanga last Feb.1.
According to the Provincial Health Office, around three million children under five years old nationwide are projected to be susceptible to measles.
In this regard, Fernando made sure that the province conducts continuous and uninterrupted weekly routine immunization services in Rural Health Units and Barangay Health Stations.
He is promoting the holding of lectures to educate the Bulakenyos -- especially the parents -- on the importance of securing immunization for their children.
He also directed the Provincial Health Office to conduct supportive supervisory visits from the months of February to April to make sure that all cities and municipalities are able to comply with the immunization program, and to identify strengths and weaknesses, gaps and challenges in the NIP implementation.
