Family of Pinay killed in Türkiye temblor seeks PBBM help in repatriating remains
LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The family of the 45-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from this city who died in the magnitude-7.8 earthquake in Türkiye this week asked the help on Friday, Feb. 10, of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in repatriating her remains.

William Abulad, father of Wilma Abulad Tezcan, sought President Marcos’ assistance in bringing her body home because they want her buried here.
A barangay tanod in Barangay Ilayang Dupay here, William said they fear that authorities in Türkiye may immediately bury Wilma based on Muslim tradition as she converted to Islam after marrying Gurol Tezcan, a Turkish national.
William is also asking help from concerned government agencies as well as the Philippine Embassy in Türkiye to help them secure her remains stored in Istanbul where the Tezcan family is living.
Wilma was on a vacation with her employer's family in Türkiye when the earthquake struck.
She worked as a nanny in Istanbul. Also killed in the earthquake was the grandmother of the child Wilma was taking care of.
Gurol informed William of her death and that her daughter’s body was retrieved four days later.
Wilma is the breadwinner among their five siblings. She had been working in Türkiye for four years and last returned home in December and left on Jan. 9.
Rescuers were scouring debris on Friday nearly 100 hours after the massive earthquake that killed at least 21,000 people in one of the region's worst disasters in a century.
