Bulacan gov't kicks off National Arts Month celebration with launch of DocuFest
The provincial government of Bulacan (PGB), through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) headed by Dr. Eliseo S. Dela Cruz, officially kicked off the National Arts Month celebration in the province by launching via online the 5th SINEliksik Bulacan DocuFestival on Friday, Feb. 10.
With the theme "Pagsubok at Pagtindig Noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig", the PGB collaborated with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) for the Docufest this year.
PHACTO department head Dr. Dela Cruz said that there are two categories in the Docufest -- Junior category wherein members of production must be 18 years old and below, and the Senior category wherein members of production must be 19 years old and above.
He said the participating groups need to choose one topic about World War 2 in the province of Bulacan, which will be the focus of the documentary anchored on the theme of the Docufest.
The last day of initial registration is on Feb. 24 and the last day of submission of all the requirements is on March 3.
Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro are encouraging Bulakenyos to participate so as to enrich their knowledge and have comprehensive research and visual reference about the Bulakenyos’ experiences, challenges, and other historical events that took place in the province during the second world war.
Meanwhile, PHACTO has also lined up activities for the National Arts Month with the theme “Ani ng Sining, Bunga ng Galing”, including Lakbay Kasaysayan, Sining at Kultura from February to March wherein guests and tourists will tour the Hiyas ng Bulacan Museum and other buildings within Bulacan Capitol premises; viewing of selected documentaries and drama at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo; a series of the concert called HARANA “Sining at Pag-ibig” of the Hiyas ng Bulacan Provincial Band on Feb. 13 at the Mini Forest and in selected malls in Bulacan.
Other events are the art exhibition called “ Sapin-sapin, Patong-patong, Halo-halo” of selected Bulacan Sculptors & Mixed Media Artists on Feb. 20 to March 3 at the Bulwagang Guillermo Tolentino; a Paleography Workshop on March 4 at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo; Parangal sa Kislap Sining ng Bulacan and Pagkilala sa mga Artistang Bulakenyo who won in the national or international competitions on March 10; and Sining sa Hardin at Konsierto ng mga Artistang Bulakenyo on March 17 and 18
