"Today, we are glad to be able to find some comfort and convenience for the hardworking and dedicated men and women of the Coast Guard through the Saludo sa Serbisyo program of Ayala Corporation," said Admiral Artemio Abu, PGC Commandant.

He added that, "Ayala Corporation has a rich history of giving generous support to the uniformed personnel as a way of extending gratitude to the men and women in the uniformed service who make so much sacrifices for the sake of our country."

Through Saludo Sa Serbisyo, Ayala group offers convenient and expanded access to various products and services, such as home and car ownership assistance, financial education program, employment and livelihood program, and health & wellness program, to name a few.

"As a nation surrounded by water, the Philippine Coast Guard is absolutely intrinsic to the safety of our nation," said Ayala Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.

He added that, "Your genuine, selfless and tireless service to our country, which we have shown time and time again, inspires us to do so much more to do good."

Zobel also recalled several instances when Ayala group and the PCG joined forces to address the immediate needs of Filipinos.

In 2020, the PCG helped the Ayala group deliver relief to families affected by the eruption of Taal. In the same year, when Super Typhoon Rolly hit the eastern islands of the Philippines, the PCG helped the group transport potable water for affected families from Albay to Catanduanes.

"Over the years Saludo Sa Serbisyo assisted families in the veiling of their first home, their first car, and even their first business," Zobel noted.

Ha said that, "As we continue our partnership moving forward, we remain committed to further ramp up our engagement with the Philippine Coast Guard."

“It is good to know that, through Ayala, many are getting their first homes, their first cars, their first business opportunities,” said Abu.

He added that, "The Philippine Coast Guard has been looking after our countrymen, and it is truly comforting to know that there are organizations in the private sector willing to look after our Philippine Coast Guard personnel."

Other beneficiaries of Saludo sa Serbisyo include the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Asset sales, F&B and infra units lead to 388% surge in SMC profits

Published May 14, 2025 16:43 pm  |  Updated May 14, 2025 16:48 pm

Diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corporation (SMC) first-quarter earnings almost quintupled to ₱43.4 billion, surging by a sharp 388 percent from ₱8.9 billion a year earlier due to one-time gains from the partial sale of power assets and foreign exchange gains.

The firm said its core net income, excluding these non-recurring items, grew 31 percent to ₱19.0 billion, driven by disciplined cost management and solid performance in most of its core businesses.

Revenues declined eight percent to ₱360.9 billion, mainly due to weaker crude prices affecting the Fuel and Oil segment, and lower contributions from the Power business following the deconsolidation of the Ilijan Power Plant.

Stronger sales results from the Food, Hard Liquor, and Infrastructure units helped offset the decline.

Operating income rose 13 percent to ₱45.6 billion, supported by margin expansion across the Power, Food & Beverage, and Infrastructure segments. Consolidated EBITDA increased 17 percent year-on-year to ₱64.2 billion.

“We had a good start to the year. Despite some challenges, our businesses remained resilient and continued to perform well. We will keep moving forward, grow responsibly, and make sure more Filipinos benefit from the progress we are making,” said SMC Chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang.
