Social media post leads to arrest of wanted man in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY -- A 69 year-old man wanted in Laguna province was caught by cops after posting on social media.

The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) identified the suspect as Renato Makasinag Dela Cruz, a native of Kalayaan town, Laguna.

Dela Cruz was caught by joint teams from the Iloilo City Police Station 1 and Kalayaan Municipal Police Station of Laguna on Monday, Jan. 30.

“It took a week for city cops to positively track the suspect,” said Major Grace Socorro Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson.

“He was spotted through social media in one event here in Iloilo City,” added Major Borio.

“It was revealed that he was temporarily living in Muelle Loney, Iloilo City for about four months,” added Borio.

Dela Cruz is facing three counts of acts of lasciviousness in Laguna province.

After his arrest in Iloilo, cops brought Dela Cruz back to Laguna, where he will be facing trial.
