Caloocan gov't recognized for excellent anti-drug abuse council performance

The Caloocan City government was recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its exemplary performance in combating illegal drugs and its rehabilitation efforts for the victims.

The DILG handed the Regional Anti-Drug Abuse Council “Glass Marker” award to Caloocan City Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CADAO) officer-in-charge Mr. Sonny Amoyo during the 2022 Anti Drug Abuse Council Performance Awards at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The award recognizes top-performing local government units (LGUs) for their significant activities and innovations in anti-drug abuse programs.

The DILG also granted P7,000,000 to the city government as part of the Seal of Good Local Governance Fund Subsidy that will be used to enhance transparency and accountability in all local government transactions and delivery of services to the residents.

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan commended the officers and members of CADAO for their excellent anti-illegal drug drive.

“Binabati ko po kayo sa hindi mapapantayang dedikasyon na tulungang puksain ang ilegal na droga sa ating mga komunidad at isailalim sa community-based treatment at rehabilitasyon ang mga naging biktima nito (I congratulate you on your unparalleled dedication to help eradicate illegal drugs in our communities and provide community-based treatment and rehabilitation for the victims),” he said. He also thanked the DILG for its recognition of the city’s initiatives.

Amoyo cited the local anti-illegal drug council’s community-based treatment as one of the key reasons for the said recognition.

“Ipinagmamalaki po natin na mayroon tayong mas pinalawig na community-based outpatient treatment na katuwang ang bawat barangay pati na rin ang Simbahan para sa paggabay sa ating mga tinatawag na ‘clients’ na nais magbagong buhay ("We are proud that we have an expanded community-based outpatient treatment that cooperates with each barangay and the church to guide our so-called 'clients' who want to change their lives),” Amoyo said.

“Pag-igihan niyo pa ang inyong mga programa kontra ilegal na droga, pagsikapan natin na sama-samang wakasan ito at tulungang magbagong buhay ang ating mga kababayan na nalulong sa masamang bisyo (Continue to work on your anti-illegal drug programs, let's work together to put an end to illegal drugs and help rehabilitate our people who get addicted to vices),” Malapitan said.
