226 Pasigueño PWDs cast votes for new disability affairs office head
A total of 226 persons with disabilities (PWDs) from various sectors in Pasig City voted for the first time the top nominees for the new head of the Pasig Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) during their general assembly on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The agenda of the general assembly, held at the Tanghalang Pasigueño, was to engage with PDAO members, seeking their input and participation in the recruitment process of the office.
This is in accordance with Republic Act 10070, or “Establishing an Institutional Mechanism to Ensure the Implementation of Programs and Services for Persons With Disabilities in every Province, City, and Municipality, Amending Republic Act No. 7277, Otherwise Known as the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons.”
The voting system for the leadership position is also included in the implementing rules and regulations of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular (MC) 2017-119, and MC 2021-041.
Based on the voting results, four individuals earned the top spots among the 24 qualified applicants – Helen G. Carmona, Jessyka R. Dare, Vladimir Medina, and Rhoda Reyes.
The top nominees will undergo a standard competency-based recruitment process, led by the city government’s Human Resource Development Office (HRDO), to determine the new PDAO head.
During the program, members from the PDAO, DILG-Pasig, and the HRDO informed the voting body of the rules and regulations of RA 10070.
The necessary qualifications and eligibility of the soon-to-be PDAO Head, based on the minimum qualifications of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) were also discussed.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto attended the general assembly, lending his support for a gathering that helps boost the voices of PWDs and serves as a platform for them to actively participate in the political process.
He also advised the organization members to vote for who they deem as the most capable and honest person to lead the office.
