Mandaluyong LGU distributes Christmas packs for Mandaleños
The Mandaluyong City local government started on Friday, Dec. 8, the distribution of Pamaskong Handog gift boxes to residents as Christmas day comes near.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos signaled the start of the distribution of the over 250,000 boxes to Mandaleños filled with noche buena items aimed at giving happiness to his constituents and making them feel the spirit of Christmas.
Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos together with her husband, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, and other city government officials led the city-wide house-to-house distribution event to the 27 barangays of the city.
According to the city government, the annual distribution of the Pamaskong Handog boxes started in 1987, Abalos' first term as city mayor.
On Nov. 20, the city government launched the return of its annual "Paskuhan sa Tiger City" Christmas fair at the City Hall grounds where more than 300 stalls have been set up offering products and cuisines to the public.
Abalos said the goal is to give small businesses and entrepreneurs the chance for their produce to be showcased to the public as well as display the talents and skills of Mandaleños.
The Christmas bazaar is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. until January 6 next year. It will also host variety shows every night including a choral singing contest among the 27 barangays of Mandaluyong and a dance contest by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).
The city government explained that the Paskuhan sa Tiger City is a much-awaited yearly event for Mandaluyong residents and visitors from other parts of Metro Manila.
The annual Paskuhan was started in 2008 by then mayor and now Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos.
It was put on hold in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
