- Concepcion said OFWs can succeed as entrepreneurs through adequate planning and proper guidance from mentors.
As thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are bound to return and celebrate Christmas with their loved ones, Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion urged Filipinos working abroad to take some time during the holidays to plan for a future homecoming as entrepreneurs.

Concepcion said this as the non-profit organization recently concluded its Balik-Bayan 2023 event that aimed to help OFWs successfully reintegrate as entrepreneurs.
According to the former presidential adviser, returning OFWs can succeed as entrepreneurs through adequate planning and proper guidance from mentors.
Concepcion reminded aspiring OFW-entrepreneurs to match their skills with their planned ventures, and to entrust their businesses only to a capable delegate.
“Only when you are ready should you start a business,” he said.
Balik-Bayan 2023 attracted around two thousand OFWs and OFW families on Dec. 2, 2023 at the SM Mall of Asia. The event provided them with plenary sessions and one-on-one mentoring from Go Negosyo’s pool of entrepreneurship mentors.
In a speech delivered through Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Michael Poa during the event, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte encouraged OFWs to explore entrepreneurship.
“Many of the OFWs would rather stay in the Philippines if there are employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for them,” she said.
