The cheapest retail price that can be purchased in the National Capital Region (NCR) went up by P5 per kilo, data from the Department of Agriculture (DA) showed.
On Nov. 28, the cheapest rice in the metropolis was only sold for P33 per kilo. The Local Regular Milled ranges from P38 to P52, as of Dec. 8.
Meanwhile, the priciest retail price of rice in the NCR remains at P68 a kilo. Local Special is currently being sold for P54 to P68.
The Imported Regular Milled is still not available in Metro Manila markets, the DA said.
Earlier, the DA assured Filipino consumers of “enough affordable supply of rice in the market” due to the wet season harvest.
The agriculture department said its market price monitoring in Metro Manila covered Commonwealth, Guadalupe, Las Piñas, Malabon, Marikina, Mega Q-Mart, Muntinlupa, Muñoz, Pasay, Pasig, Pritil, Quinta, and San Andres.
During his campaign, President Marcos said he was aspiring to bring down the price of rice to P20 per kilo.
