CEBU CITY – The relentless campaign against illegal drugs here has led to the confiscation of more than 51,000 kilos of shabu from October last year to November this year, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) reported.

Since the assumption of CCPO chief Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog in October last year, a total of 51,816 kilos of shabu have been seized.
The seized illegal drugs are worth at least P346 million.
Police Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, CCPO Deputy City Director for Operations, said that 1,978 anti-illegal operations have been conducted that led to the arrest of 249 high-value individuals and 2,065 street-level drug pushers since October last year.
The operations were conducted by various police stations in this city and special units such as the City Intelligence Unit (CIU), City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), and City Mobile Force Company.
The CIU confiscated the highest volume of illegal drugs, followed by the Sawang Calero Police Station and CDEU, Rafter said.
Rafter emphasized that even if the CCPO was busy preparing for major activities such as the Sinulog Festival last year and the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, the anti-illegal drug campaign did not let up.
“You can see here that the CCPO was very relentless in the anti-illegal campaign even if there were several activities that also needed to be attended to,” said Rafter.
