BUTUAN CITY – Three-hundred fifty-nine new members of the Police Regional Office-13 (Caraga region) started on Wednesday, December 6, a five-day handgun proficiency training at the police regional headquarters here.

Two-hundred forty will undergo the Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC).
The PRO-13 Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division (RLDDD) leads the training that ends on Sunday, December 10.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft, guest of honor and speaker during the opening ceremony, emphasized the importance of gun safety and shooting skills among policemen.
“The weight of carrying our issued firearm is incomparable to the weight of responsibility it entails,” he said. “Anytime, we can step into a situation wherein we need to save a life in danger, including our own."
Trainees received their service firearms at the start of the exercise.
Patrolmen received Taurus 9mm pistols. On the other hand, patrolwomen were given Rex Delta 9mm handguns.
