Village chair shot dead in Pangasinan

MANGALDAN, Pangasinan – A 60-year-old barangay captain was shot dead in Purok 1, Barangay Tebag, this town, on Thursday, December 7.

Police identified the victim as Melinda Paragas Morillo, captain of Barangay Poblacion, this town.

Investigation said Morillo was driving her white Mitsubishi Montero Sports Utility Vehicle on the way to her house in Barangay Tebag when two men onboard a motorcycle appeared.

The unidentified suspects fired at her several times using a caliber 45 pistol.

Suspects fled towards Barangay Poblacion and Morillo was taken to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City where she was declared dead from multiple bullet wounds.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
