Popular reggae singer Kokoi Baldo dies in Bacolod road mishap
BACOLOD CITY – Popular reggae singer Kokoi Baldo died after he crashed and ran over by a 10-wheel truck loaded with sugarcane on the Circumferential Road in Purok Tultugan, Barangay Mandalagan, this city, before dawn on Friday, December 8.

Police Major Armilyn Vargas, head of Police Station 3, said the 44-year-old Baldo from Barangay Estefania here was driving a motorcycle and tailing a pick-up truck and the truck on his way home from a gig around 1:30 a.m. when he overtook them on a curve part of the road.
However, the singer, Juan Manuel Ubaldo in real life, lost control and fell off his motorcycle.
The victim was run over by the truck driven by Benny Flor who failed to notice the incident and continued on its way.
Vargas said the pick-up truck driver chased the truck told driver Benny Flor that he had hit a motorist and stopped.
Baldo died on the spot due to severe head injuries.

Vargas said Baldo’s family and the truck driver have initially met but the Baldos have yet to decide whether to file a case or not.
The truck driver is detained at the police station.
Baldo competed in The Voice of the Philippines Season reality singing competition on ABS-CBN in 2014.
