Manila Luzon shines at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2023 with her art deco gown

Not only did Manila Luzon bag the Best Entertainment Host award but the noted Filipino drag queen stole the spotlight as the Best Dressed of the Night

Simply iconic! Manila Luzon brought pride to the Philippines with her bagging the Best Entertainment Host award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2023 in Singapore. The noted drag artist won the award for her work in the drag-reality competition show “Drag Den.” For the event, the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum donned a piece created by Ushi Sato.

The custom Erté piece featured an art deco design with its neckline adorned with sunray detail, much like the design seen on the country’s National Flag. It was finished off with a romantic draped velvet skirt and an elegant sheer cape. The look was so amazing that Manila also took home the Best Dressed of the Night honor.

In her speech, Manila expressed her gratitude to the Filipino drag artists who competed on the  first season of the “Drag Den.” “Thank you, queens, for making the risks to be on our show and to be the first drag queens to put yourself and artistry out there on Filipino TV for all of Asia and the world to watch,” Manila said. “I am so blessed because I, as the host of the show, got a front-row seat to the best drag show in the world.”

“Drag Den” is set to premiere its sophomore season on Jan. 18, 2024, with the theme of “Retribution.”
