The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has started the nationwide motor vehicle registration caravan which was launched to encourage owners of around 24.7 million delinquent vehicle owners to register.
LTOP chief Vigor D. Mendoza II led the start of the caravan in Quezon City on Saturday, Dec. 9, wherein 24 delinquent motor vehicle owners were accommodated and 56 motorists were allowed to renew their expired driver’s license.
Delinquent motor vehicles, based on LTO classification, refers to vehicles with more than a year of expired registration. The total number of delinquent motor vehicles in LTO records represents around 65 percent of all motor vehicles in the country.
Mendoza said the motor vehicle registration caravan is part of the “Oplan Balik Rehistro, Be Road Ready”.
“In doing this, we are showing the Filipino people that their LTO is not only about enforcement. We are also finding ways to make our services fast and comfortable like this program which is designed to bring the services of the LTO closer to our clients,” said Mendoza.
Aside from motor registration caravan, Mendoza earlier ordered Regional Directors and District Office heads to set up priority lanes for the registration of delinquent motor vehicles.
“We expect more vehicle owners to register their motor vehicles in the coming days because of this motor vehicle registration program that will be implemented across the country,” said Mendoza.
