Diocese of Antipolo observes Day of Mourning for MSU bombing victims
The Diocese of Antipolo observed a Day of Mourning on Thursday, Dec. 7, for the victims of the bombing attack at the Mindanao State University in Marawi City.

“Today, as we observe the Day of Mourning for the deceased victims of the MSU-Marawi bombing, we express deep feelings of grief and loss,” said Antipolo Bishop Ruperto C. Santos.
“Life is a gift from God; therefore, it is holy and precious. Here in the Diocese of Antipolo, we offer our Holy Masses for the eternal repose of those who have perished. In God’s mercy and love, may they receive eternal rest in His home in heaven,” said Bishop Santos.
The Church leader also offered prayers for the families of the deceased and for all those who were injured in the blatant attack on Dec. 3, Sunday, during mass at the MSU gymnasium for the observance of the First Sunday of Advent.
Four were killed in the incident while dozens were injured.
“We also pray for those left behind, that they may find comfort and receive help and healing for their wounded hearts, remaining steadfast in their faith in God and clinging to His promises. As we mourn, let us not forget the several dozen people injured in the attack,” the prelate said.
Bishop Santos likewise prayed for an end to violence as well as for the perpetrators of the violent attack.
“We unite ourselves with those who continue to suffer and are in pain. We fervently pray for an end to violence, that the perpetrators' lives may be touched, and their hearts moved to renounce violence. This is truly a somber time for prayer and reflection, transcending religious divisions and contradicting ideologies,” the bishop said.
Meanwhile, Philippine police on Wednesday identified two men suspected of being involved in the bombing attack as members of a pro-Islamic State militant group
