Drug suspect killed while resisting arrest

CAVITE – A drug suspect was killed during a confrontation with arresting officers in Bacoor City on Thursday, Dec. 7.

Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspect as alias Andy.

Authorities were executing the warrant of arrest against the suspect for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 when he reportedly threatened to use a hand grenade against the operatives.

“Despite attempts by Police Corporal Camelito Dominquez Jr. to pacify the suspect, ‘Andy’ resisted arrest, leading to a struggle. In the ensuing altercation, a firearm discharged, resulting in Andy's demise,” Cavite PPO’s press release stated.

The hand grenade, which failed to detonate during the confrontation, was processed by the explosive ordnance disposal group.

Cavite PPO said Bacoor Component City Police Station “assures the public that a transparent and thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding this regrettable incident.”
