ERC, electric coops, LGU join forces to boost power supply in Mindoro

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) met with local government officials and various ERC representatives and coops to discuss off-grid distribution utilities in Mindoro.
In a statement, the ERC brought its caravan to some parts of Mindoro to exchange ideas, best practices, and other energy-related recommendations so that it can provide improved services and initiatives to their communities, especially those who are living in marginalized areas.
The caravan was split into morning and afternoon sessions, wherein ERC representatives, officials from the Department of Energy (DOE), National Power Corp. (NAPCOR), and the Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank), welcomed cooperatives from Mindoro.
Various coop delegates, namely Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ORMECO), Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (OMECO), Lubang Electric Cooperative Inc. (LUBELCO) exchanged in-depth insights into Power Supply Agreements, Lifeline Rate Program, Renewable Energy Programs, and the Anti-Bill Shock Program of Landbank.
Meanwhile, the second session was set for the officials of the Mindoro LGUs, including Mayor Ferdinand Maliwanag of Mansalaya, Oriental Mindoro.
During the afternoon meeting, they were able to discuss substantively the electric coop concerns like the frequent power outages in the region.
ERC provided clarifications and possible solutions to address the power matters and how to avoid these circumstances.
Furthermore, the Energy Commission continues to reach out to communities through its interactive programs and other initiatives.
