To honor the legacy of the late Dr. James Dy, who served as a long-time member of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Board of Governors until his death last July, Dyna Drug Corporation, its subsidiary NurtureMed Pharma Inc., and family members of Dr. Dy donated 109 boxes of medicines worth 3.5 million to the humanitarian organization.

Dr. Dy was a prominent doctor, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and humanitarian worker. He was the former Chairman of Dyna Drug Corporation.

"We honor James Dy today for a lifetime of achievement. Para s'yang may Midas touch dahil hindi s'ya takot. He made fear his friend kaya naman lahat ng pinasok n'ya, naging successful. Chairman na s'ya ng Chinese General (Hospital) pumasok pa s'ya sa Philippine Red Cross at naging Vice Chairman ko pa s'ya. Kung ikaw ay successful, ibabahagi mo 'yung success mo para 'yung mahihirap ay matutulungan mo—that's part and parcel of the success and magic of James Dy," said PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon.

PRC Secretary-General, Dr. Gwen Pang, who was also present in the turnover ceremony said the boxes of medicines are a big help for the PRC in its mission to alleviate the lives of the most vulnerable. "We are elated and grateful to Dyna Drug Corporation, NurtureMed Pharma, and to the family of Dr. Dy for their donation. This is a huge help for our indigent citizens who cannot afford to buy medicines especially now that the prices of basic goods are so high. This act of kindness and generosity proves that they are going beyond distribution or business because they're also extending their support to the humanitarian works of the Philippine Red Cross," Dr. Pang said.

The donated medicines include antibiotics (Azithromycin, Doxycycline, and Metronidazole), medicines for hypertension (Amlodipine and Metoprolol), cholesterol, (Atorvastatin and Simvastatin), antiplatelets (Clopidogrel), inflammation and pain (Colchicine), diabetes (Metformin), nasal congestion and sinusitis (Phenylephrine and Brompheniramine), as well as medicines for children, among others.

Dyna Drug Corp. Managing Director, Gary Lee, said the company supports fully PRC's programs and activities. "We intend to do some corporate partnerships with the Red Cross. We will be adding our employees as members of the Philippine Red Cross' Membership Accident Assistance Benefits (MAAB) and we will continue to support its blood donation program. We congratulate Chairman Gordon for a job well done. It's very overwhelming to see many people in the PRC  helping our indigent kababayans."

Established in 1915, Dyna Drug Corporation is one of the country's leading wholesale distribution companies in the pharmaceutical and consumer goods industry.
